US Chess and ACF Memberships Required
This is a rated chess tournament and a State Championship. Each player is required to have a current US Chess membership and a current Alabama Chess Federation (ACF) membership at the time of the tournament. High School, Middle School, and Elementary Championship sections
High School Championship, Middle School Championship, and Elementary Championship sections will have a two-day schedule (3 rounds Saturday, 2 rounds Sunday). Time control G/90, d5. Round times: Saturday 9:00 am, 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm and Sunday 9:30 am, 1:30 pm. Registration fee for these sections is $40 per player through March 3, and $80 from March 4 through March 12. (Two-day schedule fee.) Only Alabama residents are eligible for these sections because state representatives to the Denker, Barber, and Rockefeller tournaments will be chosen from these sections.
Under and Primary Sections
High School Under 1300, Middle School Under 1100, Elementary Under 700, Primary Championship, and Primary Under 400 sections will have a one-day schedule (5 rounds on Saturday). Time control G/30, d5. Round times: Saturday 9:30, 11:00, 12:45, 2:00, and 3:15. Registration fee for these sections is $35 per player through March 3, and $70 from March 4 through March 12. (One-day schedule fee.)
Bye Requests
A player may request one half-point bye for any round as long as that request is made before the tournament begins. A player can withdraw or request a zero-point bye if there is a need to leave during the tournament. Requests not entered during registration should be sent to the Chief TD, Todd Guthrie, at [email protected].
Registration and Payment
There will be no on-site registration. Registration will close at 11:59 pm Wednesday, March 12. There will be no registration after March 12. You should pay for your registration with a credit card online or should mail a check so that it is received by the Chief TD before March 12. Checks must be made payable to the Alabama Chess Federation and sent to Alabama Chess Federation, c/o Todd Guthrie, 112 Southern Pointe Drive, Madison, AL 35758. We will not be accepting payment at the tournament.

Restaurants / Food
There are many restaurants in Foley, Alabama. You will be allowed to bring food and drink into the cafeteria at the Magnolia School, but you should plan ahead and think about coordinating your lunch efforts with friends or teammates. All players and parents will be expected to clean up after themselves.
Participants must be entering grades preschool to 12.
